The Albinism Fellowship Family Conference 2023
- Thriving!

Friday 17th November to Sunday 19th November

The Hayes Conference Centre Hayes Lane Swanwick DE55 1AU

The Family Conference 2023

The Conference Overview

Due to high demand we are running the next Conference in 2023, a whole year earlier than usual. Join us for the Family Friendly Albinism Fellowship Conference Weekend at the Hayes Conference Centre. The event will run from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th November 2023. The Conference theme is simply “Thriving”. Much like people with Albinism our Community is also thriving and this is going to be reflected in every session and aspect of the Conference.

Whilst we are still in the early stages of planning the conference, there will be sessions for everyone, from receiving your diagnosis, to navigating the various steps in education and employment, to something for our more seasoned ‘travellers’ to be more adventurous, such as ‘Owning your Albinism’. Wherever you are in your journey, our aim is to help you thrive, through shared experiences, creating bonds and building confidence.

As with previous Conferences, we will be running a crèche for the little ones and a teen programme, based around the Teen Hub. These run parallel to the main conference sessions, to develop and build confidence in the young people with Albinism, all whilst the adults attend the conference sessions.

Mini Pre-Conference

There will be an adults mini-pre conference again this year. We have listened to your feedback and created a exciting programme. We have booked a Cheese and Wine Tasting for the Thursday night. Then on Friday, you will get to drive (YES DRIVE) a Landrover off-road, followed by some relaxing arts and crafts. Throughout the mini-pre Conference, there will be plenty of time to chat, share and discuss life with Albinism. This pre-conference is open to any adults, 18+ with Albinism and their Partners. If a sighted partner is attending, they will still be able to partake in all the experiences, including driving the Landrover, just they will be blindfolded! (This isn't a joke.)

In accommodating the requests for the mini-conference, we have had to increase the price, but we think it is worth it. If you would like to attend, but need some financial assistance, please do email albinism.fellowship@gmail.com, as this may be possible with our bursaries.

The Venue

We are returning to the Hayes Conference Centre in the heart of Derbyshire. The centre offers the space the Albinism Fellowship needs, including a mixture of family and double bedrooms. The location offers easy access from East Midlands Airport, as well as different train stations that connect to the far reaches of the UK.

The Hayes serves all meals in buffet style, giving all the guests the choice of dishes throughout the weekend. No matter your preferences, you will find something to fill you up and keep you energized through the weekend.

Deposit Scheme

We know that life in general can put a strain on family finances, so we have done our best to keep the conference as affordable as possible, while still ensuring it provides everything you need. With this in mind, if you are a Albinism Fellowship Member, we have set up a non-refundable deposit scheme, where by you can pay 25% upon booking and the rest by August 2023.
